Overview
The 35th New York Independent Battery was an artillery unit organized in New York during the American Civil War. Recruiting for this battery began in July 1863. The unit was intended to serve as an independent battery within the Union Army’s artillery branch. However, the men recruited for the 35th Independent Battery were ultimately assigned to another unit before the battery saw independent service.
This unit served on the Union side and was associated with the Eastern Theater. Its brief existence is notable for its absorption into another regiment rather than independent field service.
