Consolidations or Transfers
The companies and recruits originally intended for the 62nd Indiana Infantry were consolidated with the 53rd Indiana Infantry on February 26, 1862. Col. William Jones, who was authorized to organize the 62nd, became lieutenant-colonel of the 53rd Indiana Infantry.
