Unassigned Recruits

While at Washington, D.C., the 48th Indiana Infantry received approximately 250 recruits from the 12th, 83rd, 97th, and 99th Indiana regiments whose terms had not expired at the time of those regiments’ muster out. These men were discharged with the 48th Indiana Infantry.

Consolidations or Transfers

Recruits from other Indiana regiments (12th, 83rd, 97th, and 99th) were consolidated into the 48th Indiana Infantry in 1865 prior to final muster out.
