Unassigned Recruits

Some recruits and late enlistees may not be listed under a specific company. These individuals were often assigned to the regiment at large or transferred to other units during consolidation.

Consolidations or Transfers

After June 17, 1865, remaining recruits of the 6th Indiana Cavalry whose terms had not expired were consolidated with the 5th Indiana Cavalry. The new organization continued as the 6th Indiana Cavalry until final muster out in September 1865.
