The 184th Ohio Infantry (One Year Service) was an infantry regiment organized in Ohio for Federal service during the final months of the American Civil War. Organization & Service

The 184th Ohio Infantry (One Year Service) was organized at Camp Chase, Ohio, in February 1865, with Colonel Henry S. Commager commanding. After mustering in, the regiment was promptly ordered to Nashville, Tennessee, where it performed garrison duty for a brief period. The unit then moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, and subsequently to Bridgeport, Alabama, arriving around March 21, 1865. Its primary assignment was to protect the important railroad bridge over the Tennessee River at Bridgeport and to guard the railroad track between Bridgeport and Chattanooga, covering approximately 30 miles.

On July 25, 1865, the regiment was ordered to Edgefield, Tennessee, for further garrison duty. The 184th Ohio Infantry remained at Edgefield until it was mustered out of service on September 20, 1865, at Nashville, Tennessee. The regiment’s service was characterized by its role in securing vital transportation and supply lines during the closing months of the war.
