Overview
The 141st Ohio Infantry (One Hundred Days’ Service) was an infantry regiment organized at Gallipolis, Ohio, in May 1864 for service in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Organization & Service
The 141st Ohio Infantry (One Hundred Days’ Service) was organized at Gallipolis, Ohio, from May 11 to May 14, 1864. The regiment was composed of the 36th Battalion (Athens County), 16th Battalion (Gallia County), part of the 84th Battalion (Adams County), and part of the 20th Battalion (Scioto County), all Ohio National Guard units. Colonel Anderson D. Jaynes commanded the regiment, with Lieutenant Colonel Taylor W. Hampton and Major Archibald D. Brown as principal field officers.
On May 21, 1864, the regiment was ordered to Charleston, West Virginia, to relieve the 13th West Virginia Infantry. The 141st Ohio Infantry performed guard duty at Charleston throughout its service, remaining at this post until August 25, 1864. The regiment was then ordered back to Gallipolis, Ohio, where it was mustered out of service on September 3, 1864.
