Overview

The 213th Pennsylvania Infantry (One Year Service) was an infantry regiment organized in Pennsylvania for service in the Union Army during the final months of the American Civil War. The regiment was recruited primarily from the city of Philadelphia and the counties of Berks, Juniata, and Chester. It was mustered into United States service at Philadelphia on March 2, 1865, for a one-year term. Organization & Service

The 213th Pennsylvania Infantry (One Year Service) was organized at Philadelphia and mustered into service on March 2, 1865. Colonel John A. Gorgas commanded the regiment, with Lieutenant Colonel Jacob M. Davis and Major Enos R. Artman as principal field officers. Shortly after organization, the regiment was ordered to Annapolis, Maryland, where it was assigned to guard Camp Parole until April 1865.

During its service at Annapolis, a detachment of the regiment was detailed to guard the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad near Frederick City, Maryland. In April 1865, the entire regiment was transferred to Washington, D.C., where it was employed in guard duty. The regiment remained stationed in Washington, performing these duties until November 18, 1865, when it was mustered out of service.
