Overview
The 92nd Indiana Infantry (Union) was an infantry regiment organized during the American Civil War in the state of Indiana. Recruitment for the regiment began in the 2nd Congressional District, with New Albany designated as the rendezvous point. The regiment was intended for service in the Union Army. However, the regiment was never fully organized as a separate unit.
The attempt to raise the 92nd Indiana Infantry did not result in a complete regiment. Only four companies were successfully recruited, and these companies were subsequently transferred to the 93rd Indiana Infantry, which was being organized in the 3rd Congressional District at Madison, Indiana.
Organization & Service
