5th New York Battalion Heavy Artillery

Regimental History
Fifth New York Battalion Heavy Artillery. — This battalion, known as the 2nd battalion Black River artillery, consisting of Cos. A, B, C and D, was also organized at Sacket's Harbor in the fall of 1862; left the state on Sept. 17, and served in the defenses of Washington until Dec, 1862, when it was discontinued and its companies assigned to the 10th N. Y. artillery as Cos. A, G, C and F, respectively. (See 10th artillery.)
