Sixty-ninth Illinois Infantry. — Col., Joseph H. Tucker;
Lieut.-Col., Thomas J. Pickett; Maj., George P. Smith. This regiment was
organized at Camp Douglas, Chicago, and was mustered into service June
14, 1862. It remained on duty at Camp Douglas, guarding the camp and
Confederate prisoners until mustered out at the expiration of its three
months' term. |
