7th Ohio Infantry Soldier Roster - Official Roster of the Soldiers of the State of Ohio in the War of the Rebellion, 1861-1866, Volume 1, by Ohio Roster Commission (Wm. McKinley, Jr., Governor, Samuel M. Taylor, Sec'y of State and James C. Howe, Adjutant-General), 1893 Regimental History Seventh Infantry. — (Three Months' Service.) Col., Erastus B. Tyler; Lieut.-Col., William R. Creighton; Maj., John S. Casement. The several companies composing this regiment were enrolled from April 18 to 25, 1861, the ranks being filled with sturdy sons of northern Ohio, recruited at Cleveland, Oberlin, Warren, Painesville, Youngstown, Norwalk and Franklin, all of whom rendezvoused at Camp Taylor, near Cleveland, and were mustered into the U. S. service from April 22 to 30, 1861, for three months. Early in May they were ordered to Camp Dennison and the officers commenced the drill and discipline of the regiment. When the second call of the president — for 300,000 men to serve for three years — was issued, the membership almost to a man signified their willingness to enter the new organization and the enrolling of the same took place on June 19 and 20.
