Regimental History
One Hundred and Ninety-fourth Infantry. — Col., Anson G. McCook; Lieut.-Col., O. C. Maxwell; Maj., H. Lee Anderson. This regiment was organized at Camp Chase in March, 1865, to serve for one year. It was ordered to Charlestown, W. Va., and assigned to Maj. -Gen. Egan's division, composed of one brigade of Eastern and one brigade of Western troops. The surrender of Lee's army caused the division and brigade to be broken up and the regiment was ordered to Washington, D. C., where it remained performing garrison duty until Oct. 24, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the war department.Footnotes:
