Union Battle Summary

Pig Point, Va., June 5, 1861. Steamer Harriet Lane. This vessel came within a mile and a half of the Confederate battery on Pig Point and opened fire. After firing, using some 33 shots from her 11- and 32-pounder guns, she withdrew out of range, having had 6 men wounded by the return fire of the battery. The only report of the affair is a Confederate report, which states that no one in the garrison was killed, although one of the big guns was disabled.
