Union Battle Summary |
Rappahannock River, Va., June 24, 1861. Confederate
sources report that a party landed from a Federal steamer, Star of New
York, in search of forage and provisions, was driven back to their
boats by a company of Lancaster troops. The Star of New York fired
about 30 shells into the pursuing Confederate ranks, but without
effect, while 4 of the Union party were killed.
