WALTHALL, E. C., Mississippi.
Colonel, Twenty-ninth Mississippi Infantry, April 11, 1862.
Brigadier general, P. A. C. S., December 13, 1862.
Major general, P. A. C. S., June 6, 1864.
Died at Washington, D. C., April 21, 1898.

Commands.
Brigade composed of the Twenty-fourth, Twenty-seventh, Twenty- ninth, Thirtieth and Thirty-fourth Mississippi Regiments Infantry, Withers' Division, Polk's Corps, Army of Tennessee. Division composed of the brigades of Canty (afterward Shelley's), Quarles and Reynolds, Stewart's Corps, Army of Tennessee.
